About Us
About Us
Hi, I’m Elaine Kiene, a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC-S) and founder of Embolden Therapy & Wellness. With over 30 years of experience in behavioral health, I support people through some of life’s most painful, uncertain, and transformative moments. I began my career working in an inpatient psychiatric unit and have since served clients across community mental health, addiction treatment programs, and outpatient counseling. Along the way, I’ve discovered my true calling: walking alongside individuals and couples as they reclaim their sense of self, rebuild their emotional resilience, and find clarity in the chaos.
I specialize in therapy for adults and older teens who are navigating trauma, grief, addiction, anxiety, depression, and major life transitions. My approach is compassionate yet direct—I combine evidence-based practices like CBT, TF-CBT, MBCT, and Solution-Focused Therapy with deep listening, honest feedback, and spiritual grounding. Faith plays a central role in my life, and I bring that same sense of purpose and hope into my work. I try to create a nonjudgmental space where you feel seen, heard, and supported. Every session is personalized to your needs, so you can feel empowered, build healthier relationships, and move forward with courage and a renewed belief in yourself.
Beyond my credentials, I bring a deeply personal understanding to my work. As a mother of a special needs child, I know firsthand the challenges, joys, and resilience required to navigate life’s complexities. At age 24, I lost my father to suicide, an experience that profoundly shaped my empathy for those grieving complicated losses. Additionally, my family endured a traumatic event with our daughter, which has given me powerful insight into trauma and recovery.
These personal experiences fuel my commitment to walk alongside you with compassion and respect. I strive to create a space where you feel truly seen, heard, and empowered to heal and grow. My goal is simple: to help you rediscover your strength, find hope, and believe in yourself again. This is more than therapy. It’s a place to heal, grow and live emboldened.
What Our Clients Say
Asking for help is the first step toward healing. Here’s how therapy has made a difference in the lives of those we’ve walked alongside.

I had the great pleasure of spending a year in therapy with Mrs. Elaine Kiene. I was struggling with major depressive disorder, suicidal Ideation and anxiety. I was at a place in my life where I didn’t know who I was, and my faith in God seemed so far away. Sadly, the idea of ending my life felt like a good idea and the only option I had because of the place I was in. As a devout Christ follower, I was broken and devastated that I had made some pretty horrible and moral failures in my life.
Meeting with Elaine became the highlight of my week. In the time I had with her, I felt heard, loved and understood. I was able to share all of the ugly of my circumstances and felt validated and cared for even at my lowest points. Knowing that she cared and was there for me at that time was what encouraged me to keep fighting. She reminded me who I was, not only as a mother and wife but a Christ follower. I know that she truly cared for me, the pain I was feeling and the circumstances I was in. She was serious in her approach me and kept me accountable while she spoke in love about forgiveness and

I worked with Elaine for most of my 23 years in the Behavioral Health field. There are few people I know who match Elaine’s excellence of clinical practice, attention to detail, and ethics. She is a gifted therapist and a wise counselor. Elaine possesses confidence that comes with many years of helping others and a genuineness that can only be built within the crucible of life’s trials. She has my utmost respect as a colleague and my sincere admiration as her friend.

I started seeing Elaine after a traumatic event that happened while I was in high school, one of the most vulnerable times in my life. I was overwhelmed, anxious, and disconnected, but her support was exactly what I needed.
She deeply understood my reactions, especially the intense fight-or-flight responses, and helped me make sense of them with compassion and care. Because of her, I was able to feel safe again and begin reconnecting with my friends, family, and community in ways I didn’t think were possible at the time.
Her approach not only helped me heal, it inspired me. I now work in the mental health field myself, and her example continues to influence the way I show up for others. I’ll always be grateful for the care she offered during such a pivotal time in my life.
